„Romania doesn’t witness capital outflows yet and we hope there won’t be any in the future either,” Isarescu said.
He said that is only natural for people to express concern about possible effects the Greece’s situation may have on Romania, but added that exaggerate opinions are dangerous and they could be contagious.
„The central bank’s request is no exaggerations.”
Isarescu said the central bank’s reserve is increasing and liquidity has improved. In addition, banking interest rates are falling and lending shows signs of recovery.
„The reserve is increasing and, if we could make a joke, it may be even too high. However, during times of international turmoil, one starts to consider that having a high reserve is good,” the central bank’s chief said.
