Romanian Orthodox Church Leader Might Meet Laura Bush

A special room has been arranged at the Bucharest military hospital for a potential meeting between U.S. First Lady Laura Bush and Romanian Orthodox Church Patriarch Daniel, officials told MEDIAFAX Monday.

They said the Patriarch is acquainted with Mrs. Bush and wishes to meet with her.

The meeting is still uncertain, but a special room has been arranged just in case.

Mrs. Bush accompanies U.S. president George W. Bush on his visit to Romania for the NATO summit later this week.

Patriarch Daniel was committed to hospital Sunday and underwent surgery after he broke his left ankle on a flight of stairs after the morning mass. Doctors say he will be under surveillance for five days and won’t be able to use the left leg for six weeks.
