The protests announced by union federations in education were analyzed, Sunday, in the first debate held by FNAP-IP leaders.
"In this respect, parents call on teachers, the Ministry of Education and the Government to find a way towards constructive dialogue in view of solving all issues. We seriously draw attention on the fact that, every time, in conflicts between unions and the Government, the true victims are the children, our children, those of the taxpayers and voters in this country," said a press release issued by FNAP-IP.
Parents believe that the continuation of these conflicts removes the dialogue and applies positions of power, which breaches the fundamental rights of children to education.
The leaders also analyzed the draft education law, saying the debates on the normative act need to be held in a centralized environment as well, so that every party involved in the educational process may have a say regarding the reforms of the educational system.
Romanian teachers said they would stop writing down the marks and grades obtained by children, starting Monday, displeased with the fact that their salaries have been reduced through the application of the unitary wage law, but also in protest against the fact that they were not consulted regarding the education law.
On March 25, education unionists will hold a protest rally in front of the Government headquarters, followed by a protest march heading towards the Ministry of Education, in parallel with a protest rally held in front of the Ministry of Labor. Further protest actions are planned by the unions, set to take place in April.
