Romanian Parliament Committees Endorse Proposed Development & Tourism Minister

Romania’s Parliament committees for public administration, industry and services Tuesday endorsed proposed Regional Development and Tourism Minister Elena Udrea with 43 to four votes and one abstention.

Udrea, a democrat liberal, has been investigated by a parliamentary inquiry commission over alleged mishandling of public money this year, during her previous term as tourism minister. The commission recommended the start of criminal investigations against her but no legal action has been taken so far.

Prime Minister-designate Emil Boc will seek Wednesday a confidence vote for a Cabinet of 15 ministers and a deputy prime minister. All 15 proposed ministers have been endorsed by parliamentary commissions.
