Johannis said he firmly believes the Parliament will never endorse the proposed cabinet of Prime Minister-designate Lucian Croitoru.
„I think it’s a waste of time because this government will not get the Parliament’s confidence vote. I think Aurescu and Blaga were endorsed by parliamentary committees in recognition of their personal merits but that doesn’t mean they’ll get a confidence vote and become ministers,” Johannis said.
He added he has spoken recently to leaders of the Social Democratic and Liberal parties and was assured they still back him for prime minister. Johannis was proposed for the position by a parliamentary majority of over 65%, but President Traian Basescu designated economist Lucian Croitoru for the position.
Croitoru has proposed a cabinet of 14 democrat liberal and technocratic ministers, which will face a confidence vote in Parliament Wednesday, November 4.
Parliamentary committees hearing the proposed ministers have so far thumbed down all of hem except for Vasile Blaga, proposed for development and tourism minister, and Bogdan Aurescu, proposed for foreign minister.
