Romanian Parliament Harshens Punishment For Violence Against Police Officers
Romania’s Parliament Wednesday adopted an emergency decree amending the Criminal Code and one of the amendments refers to harshening punishment for violence against police officers.

Punishment for violence against officers ranges between six months and three years imprisonment, and fines were eliminated.
Deputy Lucian Bode said, after the emergency decree was voted on, the law will do away with violence against officers, adding prosecutors will have no reason to propose fines as punishment.
The emergency decree increases by half punishment for assaulting judges, prosecutors, criminal investigators, gendarmes, police officers or militaries, and punishment for insult was set between three months and one year.
