Romanian Govt Eyes Regulating Wages Of All Govt-Run Agencies
"Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu suspended the government meeting to give ministers time to draft a normative act regulating the wages of all managers of agencies run by the government and ministries,” the government said in a statement.
Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu interrupted the Cabinet meeting Tuesday to request additional data on wages paid in state agencies and government-run regulators, people close to the matter told MEDIAFAX.
The prime minister required additional data and documents needed to amend legislation on wages for staff in government-run agencies,” they said.
Tariceanu had talks Monday with labor minister Mariana Campeanu, Finance Ministry state secretary Doina Dascalu, Chancellery head Dorin Marian and officials of the Labor and Finance Ministries on the issue of wages of staff in government-run agencies, regulators and state-owned companies.
Following talks, a decision was made for wages in state-owned companies to be granted according to the company’s performance, while wages for staff in government agencies will be set based on a grid instead of negotiations within the respective institution.
Heads of agencies and regulators will not exceed the salary of a state secretary, which was set at 6,691 lei (EUR1= RON3.7677) as of October 1, based on an emergency ordinance approved by the Government.
