Romanian Petrom’s Refinery Ops Unaffected By Fire

Petrobrazi Ploiesti refinery of Romanian Oil Company Petrom was subject to a fire on Tuesday morning, which damaged three storage tanks but did not affect the overall operations of the refinery, the company said in a statement.

The company made no comment on the cause of the fire.
 
In the first nine months of 2007, Petrobrazi reported a net profit of 1.548 billion lei (EUR1-RON 3.6095), 22% lower from the corresponding period last year.
 
Petrom is the largest corporation in Romania and the largest gas and oil producer in Southeastern Europe. In December 2004, Petrom was privatized and became a part of Austria’s utility OMV AG (OMV.VI), which is the majority shareholder.
