Romanian Physicians College Dismisses TI Allegations On Bribe Legalization

“The Romanian Physicians College only expressed readiness in showing their expertise, if requested by the health ministry, with the elaboration of the provisions of Law 45/2003 regarding patients’ rights. The statement issued by Transparency International has nothing to do with the stand expressed by CMR. The statement contains nothing but rumors and allegations and we will not comment it,” CMR president Vasile Astărăstoae said in a statement.

Earlier Monday, TI Romania urged the Romanian government to firmly reject any act that might legalize bribe in the healthcare system.

It said several representatives of the Romanian Physicians College recommended that MDs should receive additional payments from their patients, by means of a new tax.
