Boc said he sent the President the proposition to dismiss Nica and to replace him with Blaga as interim.
The position of deputy prime minister and that of interior minister should be filled by social democrats under the governing coalition's agreement, but social democrats have refused to nominate an interim or a new minister and threatened to leave the government if Nica is dismissed.
The final decision on the dismissal of the interior minister belongs to President Traian Basescu. Social democrat leader Mircea Geoana wrote to Basescu Tuesday urging him to intervene and prevent the triggering of a political crisis in case Nica is dismissed.
Boc fired Nica Monday citing poor management and his recent statements alleging plans to rig presidential elections due on November 22. Boc gave social democrats 24 hours to nominate a replacement, but they decided to reaffirm their support for Nica and refused to nominate a replacement, threatening to leave the government.
