Hasotti thanked social democrat senators for their decision to uphold the motion, stressing that liberal senators’ votes alone would have been insufficient to initiate it.
Senate Chairman Mircea Geoana said Wednesday that senators will debate and hold a vote on the motion next week, if all required procedures are carried through.
Former Education Minister Andrei Marga said the motion has been concluded and it targets four key problems the country’s education system is facing, namely planned layoffs and the budget allotted to the education sector, the unitary wage law and the draft education law.
The unitary wage law and the draft education law triggered protests countrywide and teachers threatened to stage full-blown strikes indefinitely if authorities fail to solve the problems they brought to their attention.
