Romanian Shrs Surge Amid Double Traded Values
The stock exchange’s composite index BET-C rose 11.51% on the day to 2,895.17.
The total traded value was 49.03 million lei (EUR1= RON3.7677), almost double from Monday’s RON 26.11 million.
The Bucharest bourse’s BET index, which tracks the most liquid ten stocks on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, hiked 10.62% on the day to 3,825.57.
The BET-FI index, which tracks the five SIFs, were up a sharp 14.62% on the day to 19,322.70.
BET-NG, including the companies operating in energy sector and related utilities, was up 14.4% on the day to 528.15, while BET-XT, which tracks the most liquid 25 listed companies, including the SIFs, rose 11.28% on the day to 379.15.
“All international markets experience a positive sentiment, which influenced most of shares traded on Bucharest Stock Exchange. Investors got back their confidence in the market (…) We know one thing for sure, the market volatility will remain high. (…) We will still have to wait for the consolidation period," Sorin Carstea, operations manager of brokerage company IFB Finwest, stated.
Romanian oil company Petrom (SNP.RO) was the top traded issuer on the bourse Tuesday. Its shares closed up 13.45% on the day at RON0.27, at a total traded value of RON17.41 million.
Romanian regional investment fund SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) was the bourse’s second-top traded issuer Tuesday. Its shares closed 14.53% higher on the day at RON0.98, at a total traded value of RON6.52 million.
Shares of investment fund SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) closed up 14.42% on the day at RON0.5, at a total traded value of RON4.78 million.
Romania’s second largest bank by assets BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) saw its shares close at RON9.75, up 14.71% on the day at a total traded value of RON2.8 million.
The shares of another top traded issuer, chemical plant Azomures (AZO.RO), closed up 14.91% on the day at RON0.26 at a total traded value of RON1.12 million.
