The current Constitution states that, in case of Government reshuffling or vacant positions within the Cabinet, the president dismisses or appoints ministers after the prime minister presents his proposals to the head of state.

If these proposals entail Government reshuffling or changes in the political structure of the Government, the president can exert attributions in this case only if the Parliament approved the prime minister’s propositions.

Romania’s Government has decided to put forward a draft law for the revision of the Constitution, providing for a single-chamber Parliament and a maximum of 300 MPs, which was forwarded to the head of state.
