Boc said during the international summit of prosecutors general and chief prosecutors, hosted in Bucharest, that he knows of the pressures made on the justice system and how politicians are tempted to pick up the phone and ask for interventions, but urged prosecutors not to give in to such behavior.
"I know how difficult your work is, I know what pressures you are up against. All sorts of pressures are put upon you: political, media, popular pressure, the temptation of corruption, and, I hope this is not often the case, even physical threats. (…) My advice is: no matter how tempting it is, don’t give in to politicians’ pressure. This is a guarantee of public trust, the rule of law and democracy,” Boc told prosecutors.
He added people’s confidence in the independence and impartiality of justice is essential for the strengthening of democracy and the rule of law.
