Romanian Police Detain Alleged Pedophile

A 51 year-old man has been detained by organized crime prosecutors in Alba Iulia, central Romania, who faces criminal charges for alleged sexual relations with minors, police said in a press release Friday.

Prosecutors say the man, George Mircea Morgoci, recruited minors from orphanages or homeless teenage boys between 2009 and 2010. Morgoci is accused of rape, sexual intercourse with minors, and procurement and possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors have requested to place him under preventive arrest for 29 days.
