Nati Meir had appealed his arrest and told judges at the Court of Appeals he has been in Romania for 14 years and he has always tried to help people solve their problems.
Meir's lawyer Violeta Podolianu told judges her client cannot be charged with criminal offence as the "three plaintiffs rushed when they filed their complaints and should have waited for the contracts to follow their legal course."
The case prosecutor said Meir "did not intend to observe the stipulations included in the contracts he signed and he has not brought evidence he has the money he promised to lend and wanted only to cash the commission after hindering the promised loans."
One of the lawyers defending Meir, recently detained on charges of fraud, said last week that three people filed complaints against Meir, stressing one complaint targeted the unfolding of a contract involving Meir's election campaign song for the upcoming presidential elections.
Last week, organized crime squads found two fake banknotes in Meir's office, following search operations.
Meir was taken to the department fighting organized crime and heard by the prosecutors investigating the case.
The Bucharest Court ruled to place Meir under preventive arrest for 29 days under charges of forgery, possession and circulation of forged currency.
