Business daily Ziarul Financiar wrote Friday that Gogu, who was appointed to the postal service board by the communications minister, holds stock in a company controlled by the minister's wife.

A ministry press release said Gogu's appointment to the board was legal and his resignation was for personal reasons.

Gogu owns 14.64% of UM-Soft, a company that does business with several public institutions, including local authorities in Bacau county, and the Pension House. Mioara Vreme, the minister's wife, owns the majority stock in UM-Soft.

The Communications Ministry owns 75% of the postal company's shares and controls six of the nine seats on its board. The remaining shares are held by Fondul Proprietatea.
