Romanian Pres Was Wrong To Appoint Stolojan PM, “The Man Is Ill” – Nastase
Head of the National Council of Romania’s Social Democratic Party, Adrian Nastase, said the decision of President Traian Basescu to appoint Teodor Stolojan for the prime minister office was not a good decision, as “the man is ill”.

“I don’t know why the president put him in this extremely difficult position. I know from my colleagues that he had problems. The man is ill and one must admit that,” Nastase said.
He said he does not understand why the head of state created such tension to place Stolojan as the head of the government, “so that he can have his own man at the helm of the Government”.
“As this coalition exists (between the social democrats and the democrat liberals - e.n.) perhaps now it will do its job based on the political parties’ laws and the two coalition leaders will consult to decide who is the best Prime Minister,” Nastase said.
Romania’s designated prime minster Theodor Stolojan said Monday he turned in his prime minister mandate to the president, saying he decided to let younger politicians take the helm.
Stolojan said the President of Romania is the only one to decide to whom he will grant the Prime Minister mandate.
