Romanian President Gets Romanian Carmaker Dacia’s First SUV

Basescu said the Duster cost 71,242.24 lei (EUR1=RON4.1128) and the red model he purchased was a special „niche” product, as Dacia does not construct red models.

Basescu said he is sure the Duster will successfully deal with Romania’s bad road infrastructure.

Basescu also said he will ask specialists to see if the off-road cars currently used in the official presidential motorcade can be replaced by Dacia Duster.

The Duster was officially launched on March 18 and may be ordered from any Dacia dealer, for a price between EUR10,500 and EUR15,600, VAT included.

Basescu will also go on an official visit to Prague on Thursday to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama and Central and Eastern European leaders.
