„The reorganization of the High Council of Magistrates is in your hands,” Basescu told lawmakers.

The Romanian Constitution stipulates that the High Council of Magistrates has 19 members, of which 14 are elected in general assemblies of the magistrates and validated by the Senate, and two are representatives of civil society. The minister of justice, the general prosecutor and the president of the High Court of Justice are also members in the High Council of Magistrates.
