Romanian President Says He Won’t Consider Administrative Reorganization An Abandoned Plan
The head of stated said he hopes a solution regarding the country’s reorganization will be found after the Parliament’s recess.
„I will not consider the administrative reorganization an abandoned objective even if the majority has not reached political consensus,” said Basescu, adding the country must be reorganized.
Earlier Monday, Hungarian minority party UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor said the ruling coalition has decided to postpone plans on the country’s administrative reorganization as UDMR, part of the coalition, rejected all the propositions put forward by the ruling Democratic Liberal Party.
Basescu addressed the legislature Monday afternoon on matters regarding the draft revised Constitution he sent to the Parliament last week.
He said the Senate chairman has asked him in a letter to amend the draft Constitution he has put forward, taking into account the recommendations made by the Constitutional Court. The president added that, as some of the recommendations made by the court do not refer to the amendments he proposed, he considers it right to let the Parliament amend the draft act.
