Basescu is accompanied by Defense minister Gabriel Oprea and they will both inspect the works on the new bridge, after the old one was swept away by floods last week and halted traffic in the area.
The president was on a visit to Dornesti last Friday as well and ordered the army to build a temporary bridge, which is to be ready Thursday.
Recent flooding has left over 20 people dead and thousands have been evacuated, mostly in northeastern and eastern Romania.
Weather conditions are not set to improve yet and authorities have issued a new advisory for heavy rain and thunderstorms expected until Tuesday night in northern, eastern, central, south-central and part of southeastern Romania.
