Romanian President Upbeat On Ability To Overcome Economic Difficulties
“The TV apocalypse is not true; if you (the media – e.n.) show nightly reports about two hundred workers laid off in one area, three hundred somewhere else, you give the impression of a disaster. Sure, the crisis takes its toll, but the Romanian industry is working,” Basescu said during his visit to Mechel’s steel plant in Campia Turzii, northwestern Romania.
However, the country has to fight to keep existing jobs, Basescu said.
Basescu voiced optimism about Romania’s ability to fight the economic crisis, saying the country has a solid banking system and that “mother banks” must continue to send money to their local branches to support the Romanian economy.
