Romania Unemployment Seen Growing In 1H ’10 – IMF Official

Romania’s unemployment will continue to grow during the first half of 2010, and the number of jobless people might reach one million, Jeffrey Franks, head of the International Monetary Fund mission to Bucharest, told ProTV television station in an interview Wednesday.

The jobless rate rose for the 17th consecutive month in December to 7.8%, while the total number of unemployed people was at 709,383 at the end of 2009, according to the National Employment Agency ANOFM.
