Romanian Referendum Prelim Results At GMT0900: 77.39% For Single-Chamber Parl, 88.87% For Downsizing

In Romania’s referendum Sunday, 77.39% of voters supported a single-chamber Parliament, and 88.87% supported downsizing the Parliament to a maximum 300 MPs, according to preliminary results published Monday morning, after counting the votes in 69.71% of polling stations.

The Central Electoral Bureau said Monday that, after counting the votes in 69.71% of polling stations, 77.39% of voters answered „Yes” to the question on the single-chamber Parliament, while 22.61% answered „No.” Regarding the question on downsizing the Parliament to a maximum 300 MPs, 88.87% answered „Yes,” and 11.13% answered „No.”

Voter turnout to the referendum was 50.61%, according to the Electoral Bureau.
