Romanian Public Administration Unionists To Stage Full-Blown Strike On May 5

The Romanian National Federation of Public Administration Unions (FNSA) will picket the Government headquarters on April 30 and stage a full-blown strike on May 5 over wage cuts, union leader Valer Suciu told a news conference Wednesday.

Suciu said about 1,000 public administration employees will picket the Government on April 30, adding the calendar of a full-blown strike will be set in a union meeting scheduled for April 29.

Suciu said public administration employees' protests are triggered mainly by salary reductions. He added the Government reduced salaries in the public administration sector and ignored provisions of collective work contracts and court decisions which ruled these contracts legal.
