The radio company's board of directors discussed the move in a January 25 meeting and analyzed a report of talks on the matter with Moldovan authorities. Romania's public radio general manager Maria Toghina told MEDIAFAX the broadcaster wishes to meet the demands of listeners in Moldova and ensure quality reception of its broadcasts.
Some broadcasts of the Romanian public radio are currently available in the Republic of Moldova via Moldovan local radio Vocea Basarabiei.
"Some of our broadcasts are currently available via Vocea Basarabiei, which recasts our night time airs. We want to extend this collaboration by attracting new partners or by developing an exclusive project of our own," Toghina said.
She added the Romanian public radio has always had correspondents in Moldovan capital Chisinau since 1990 and plans to extend its correspondent network and improve coverage of Moldova.
The Romanian public radio company operates stations Radio Romania Actualitati, Radio Romania International, Radio Romania Cultural, Radio Romania Muzical, Antena Satelor, Radio3Net, Radio Bucuresti and more than ten local stations. The Romanian public radio also operates an online children's radio station, Kids Radio, and news agency Rador.
