Romanian Railway Company CFR Calatori Might Receive RON937M Subsidies This Year
Romanian state-run railway passenger carrier CFR Calatori could receive state subsidies in the amount of 937.18 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1685) this year, less than last year and below the company's requested RON1.37 billion.

Last year, CFR Calatori was allotted RON956.25 million, but the Government later increased this amount to RON1.15 billion.
The subsidies will cover the difference between the company's real costs and the revenue from ticket sales.
CFR Calatori will receive RON250 million from the budget to purchase and upgrade its engines and cars, 47% below the necessary amount, estimated at RON473.5 million, according to a draft Government decision approving the additional document for 2011 to the railway operations contract on for 2008-2011, drawn up by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
