"(…) The number of 421 employees does not represent the number of persons subject to retirement in 2009 or in the upcoming period," the plant’s management said in a press statement.

The company contracted the Gorj County Pension House to analyze if 421 employees in Turceni plant, or 10.7% of the total 3,916 people in the company, meet the retirement conditions, the thermal power producer announced Monday.

The Gorj County Pension House was the only bidder for the plant’s contract worth 63,150 lei (EUR1=RON3.8090), VAT not included.

The contract has been assigned on November 27, through negotiation.

The power plant reported a net profit of RON90 million in the first half of the year, 2-fold higher from RON45 million in the similar period a year earlier.

Romania’s Government plans to include Turceni, alongside with state-owned power grid Electrica, hydropower generator Hidroelectrica and another power plant in Oltenia area, Rovinari, in a national power holding developing on the regional markets.
