The Romanian delegation, formed of 40 people, and led by Teodor Maries, head of the ” 21 Decembrie 1989” association, will take part in a rally in front of the Palace Of Human Rights in Strasbourg and another rally before the Palace of the Council of Europe.
“It was the first appeal forwarded to a European court against the unacceptable and unconstitutional delays regarding the prosecution of the massacre that took place some 18 years ago during the anti-communist revolution in December 1989 when over 1,100 unjustified crimes were committed,” shows a press release drawn up by several revolutionary bodies.
The revolutionaries say they wish to “condemn the Romanian legal system for how it delays solving the files of the Revolution in favor of criminals, their accomplices and the instigators to violence.”
On February, the delegation had asked the Court to make a priority of the issue “taking into consideration the gravity of the deeds and the long time it took authorities to handle them.”
The “Apel pentru Adevar” (Let the Truth Be Known) document submitted then by revolutionaries read that “Nowadays Romania is an immoral country, as it was built on the fratricide committed 18 years ago during the anti-communist revolution.”
