According to representatives of the Galati county prefecture, there is no current danger of flooding in inhabited areas or other farmlands.

The high waters of the Prut have already cause damage in Galati county. According to information from the Galati prefecture, the Prut overflowed around the Vadeni locality and flooded some 150 hectares of grasslands and eight gardens with surfaces summing up to one hectare. Around the Slobozia Oancea village, some 280 hectares of grasslands were flooded.

Near the cross with the Prut, the right bank dam on the river Elan ruptured over a length of some 30 meters, and the water flooded the Mata Radeanu fish farm.

According to the spokesperson for the Galati prefecture, Petrica Patilea - Crangan, there is the immediate risk for other areas to be flooded by the overflowing Prut waters.

The latest hydrology readings, recorded at 15:00 local time, indicated that in the Oancea area the Prut waters reached a height of 576 centimeters, 26 centimeters above the flood marker, and a flow of 457 cubic meters per second, which means that the code orange warning for floods remained active.
