Romanian Rock Band Iris Frontman In Germany For Medical Tests
The band had to suspend their countrywide tour and cancelled a concert in Timisoara, western Romania.
"He’s in Germany,” said band manager Cosmin Nicoara, adding Minculescu isn’t committed to hospital, but is just having some tests.
"We’ve suspended the tour. We were supposed to play in Timisoara tomorrow," the band drummer added. He also dismissed all rumors that the band was on the verge of a split-up over the frontman’s state of health.
"We’re a family, a team. We’re going all the way. We’ve been together for all these years, we’ve fought together. We’re staying together no matter what happens to any of us," Dumitrescu said.
Numerous rumors spread over the years regarding Minculescu’s health and many alleged he is suffering from cirrhosis. Band members declined to give further details, but said they would be made public soon.
The band was founded in 1976, in Bucharest, and Miculescu joined the team as lead singer in 1980.
In October 2007, when the band turned 30, the band was decorated by President Traian Basescu and their anniversary concert gathered over 15,000 fans.
