Romanian Ruling Coalition Wants Single Round Of Elections For Mayors

„The entire coalition agreed and backs this amendment to have mayors elected in a single round of elections,” said Kelemen.

He added the coalition has not yet decided whether the current local election law is to be amended through a bill that is already in Parliament or through a bill to be drafted by the Government.

A bill amending the local election law was submitted to Parliament on November 15, 2010 and is currently in the Senate.
