Romanian Leu Falls Vs Euro, Exch Rate At 4.086

Romania’s leu extended early losses against the euro in mid-trade Monday and the central bank’s reference weakened 0.3% to 4.086 units, from 4.0744 units in the previous session.

The leu declined by some 0.4% against the US dollar and the indicative was set at 2.7527 units, from 2.7408 units Friday.

The leu opened at 4.076/4.079 to the euro, lower than 4.0755/4.0765 to the euro at closing Friday.

Within the first hour, the leu hit an early low at 4.087/4.089 against the euro, following higher demand for foreign currency, but then it returned to 4.0835/4.085 against the euro at around GMT0715.

At around GMT1000, the leu traded at 4.0865/4.088 to the euro.

On the money market, overnight rates fell to 5.1%-5.6% a year, from 5.3%-5.8% a year Friday.
