Senators in the commission drafted a formal address to the High Council of Magistrates, requiring certain notes to solve prosecutors’ requests to prosecute Seres. Senators asked to see the phone tapping warrant to check the observance of provisions of article 62 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the handling of evidence and of article 91, index 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the interception and recording of communication by phone or any means of communication.

Senators also want to see whether the criminal investigation on Seres was performed confidentially to guarantee a fair trial.

The head of the commission, liberal senator Norica Nicolai, said the same requests would be addressed to the High Council of Magistrates in the case of labor minister Pacuraru.

The commission also drafted an address to the Romanian Intelligence Service, asking whether an interception warrant was requested for senator Seres, investigated for alleged treason and espionage.

Anticorruption prosecutors last week asked the Senate for approval to prosecute minister Pacuraru in a corruption case.

Also last week, the General Prosecutors’ Office asked the Senate for approval to prosecute Seres.
