Romania To Have Another 180 Km Of Highway By End-2010 – CNADNR

Romania will have by end-2010 another 180 kilometers of highway, namely the Bucharest-Moara Vlasiei-Ploiesti, Campia Turzii-Gilau, Suplacu de Barcau-Bors segments and Sibiu ring road respectively, Stefan Szobotka, a manager in Romania's roads and highways company CNADNR said Tuesday.

The Suplacu de Barcau-Bors highway segment and part of the Campia Turzii-Gilau segment will be finalized in 2009, Szobotka said.

The authority plans to begin the construction of 700-1,300 kilometers of highway next year, he added.

Romania might absorb next year European infrastructure funds of EUR350- EUR500 million, Transport Minister Ludovic Orban said, adding that many highway sectors will be built between 2009 and 2012, due to the public pressure regarding this necessity.
