Romanian Senate Rejects Prosecutors’ Request To Criminally Investigate Minister

The request received 37 votes for and 77 votes against, whilst one senator abstained.

Chief Prosecutor at the National Anticorruption Directorate Laura Codruta Kovesi had requested on August 25 approval in order to start a criminal investigation on Ilie, who is accused of instigation to repeated use of non-public information or allowing unauthorized access to such information during his term as minister.
