Asked to comment on the opinion of liberal vice-president Paul Pacuraru, Geoana said liberals have only one option, to switch to opposition.
Pacuraru had said liberals have two options after EP elections to make sure it has support in parliament: switch to the opposition or negotiate a partnership with social democrats.
Asked if there is any alternative, the social democrat leader said an alternative would be “another parliamentary majority or any parliamentary majority.”
He added social democrats have no intention of governing alongside liberals.
"We have one more year to go until elections and our guts tell us it is best to stay in opposition until the end,” Geoana said.
