Romanian Social Democrats Dismiss Designated PM’s Govt Seat Offer As Bogus
Romanian Social Democratic Party spokesman Bogdan Niculescu-Duvaz told MEDIAFAX Monday the designated Prime Minister Lucian Croitoru’s offer to have a social democrat head the Interior Ministry is a false offer, because he has no support in Parliament.

"Lucian Croitoru is in no position to make offers because he doesn't have a majority to support him in Parliament. And second, offers and negotiations are not done like this, on TV. It's clear he was told to say that, it's all for the audience," Duvaz said.
The social democrat added the parties that make up the country's new Parliament majority, expect Croitoru at their scheduled meeting Tuesday to tell him he has no support in Parliament.
Croitoru, Romania's designated prime minister, who has ten days to make up a government and request the Parliament's confidence vote, said Monday after talks with democrat liberals that he wants social democrats to make two or three nominations for the headship of the Interior Ministry.
The headship of the Interior Ministry is perceived as a much coveted position as the ministry is in charge of organizing and overseeing presidential elections due on November 22. Romania's center-left coalition government of social democrats and democrat liberals split early this month because the prime minister sacked the social democrat interior minister.
