The protocol includes ten common objectives which target, among others, to revive the construction of social homes, increase funds needed to refurbish high-seismic risk buildings, purchase Romanian-made public transport vehicles, renegotiate the lease contract with Apa Nova, if the company fails to invest in extending public water utilities, and to tackle the issue of city's stray dogs.
Vanghelie and Stefanescu told a press conference Sunday that the protocol could lay the grounds for a future collaboration at local elections due in 2012, and also at future parliamentary elections.
Prior to the signing of the protocol between the two party branches, PRM leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor tore into pieces the protocol his party and the country's ruling Democratic Liberal Party PDL signed in June 2009, which targeted a partnership at the level of the Bucharest General Council.
Vadim harshly criticized President Traian Basescu and democrat liberal leaders and stressed the protocol signed with PDL in 2009 was a setback for his party.
