The decision to exclude Simirad from the party was taken unanimously.
The leader of the Social Democratic Party branch in Iasi, Gheorghe Nichita, said in a press release Thursday he would call a vote on whether to oust Simirad from the party after the latter announced he would support Basescu in the presidential race.
Gheorghe Flutur, vice-president of the Democratic Liberal Party, formerly headed by Basescu, said during a press conference Thursday afternoon in Iasi, that social democrat Simirad would help him organize Basescu's election campaign for the eastern part of the country.
