"Unless Mr. Oprea is dismissed by prime Minster Emil Boc, our ministers will pull out of the government. This is the very matter we discussed today (Monday – e.n.) in the party’s standing office meeting," Vanghelie said on Antena 3.
He added the Social Democratic Party will stay in the government only under the conditions set in the collaboration protocol signed with the Democratic Liberal Party.
"As party president Mircea Geoana very well said, we’re staying only in the conditions of this partnership. We won’t be part of the government no matter what,” Vanghelie said.
Social democrat leaders decided Monday to withdraw the political support of interior minister Oprea after the latter appointed people in key positions within the ministry without consulting with party leaders. Party leader Geoana added a proposal to oust Oprea from the party altogether will be discussed by the party’s integrity commission.
Geoana also proposed that social democrat deputy prime minister Dan Nica should act as interim interior minister until the party appoints a new candidate.
