Romanian Pres Holds Speech At EU-USA Meet

The Romanian head of state said Sunday in Prague that a new era has begun in EU-USA relations, which proves that the correct approach was the one taken by Romania, namely the creation of a strategic partnership with the USA.

Traian Basescu said the greatest achievement of the reunion in Prague is the fact that president Barrack Obama confirmed he will support the objectives and will be a partner for the EU in the Conference at Copenhagen, where the USA will make a commitment equal to that of Europe in the fight against climate change brought by gas emissions.
 
The president mentioned another topic approached in the meeting was the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He said both parties committed to make Afghanistan governable and to place it in the hands of Afghan authorities.
