"Besides, telecom operators managed to maintain or even increase their client portfolio by launching aggressive offers. Most of our clients will represent a reserve to account for local telecom operators' future business increases," Marinescu said during the conference Mediafax talks about Telecom Industry.
According to ANCOM data, mobile phone traffic increase was of 33.9% in the first half of the year compared to the end of 2008, while the number of users decreased by 60,000 to 24.4 million.
Hard-line connections increased by 17.8% to 5.3 million, while voice traffic dropped 16% compared to June 2008.
Hard-line penetration rate reached 24.7% per 100 people up 3.6% compared to June 2008, while the penetration rate for 100 households increased by 3.1% to 54.6%.
ANCOM data show the number of internet connections reached five million at the end of the first quarter of 2009, from 3.9 million in December 2008 and from 3.2 million 12 months ago.
ANCOM is the authority that establishes rules on Romania's communications market and watches they are observed.
Players on the Romanian telecom market are Orange Romania, Vodafone Romania, Cosmote Romania, Telemobil (Zapp Mobile), RCS&RDS, Romtelecom and UPC Romania.
