Thus, state-owned electricity producer Termoelectrica was allowed to borrow 30,000 tons of fuel oil for the 2010-2011 winter period, power producers Electrocentrale Bucuresti – 50,000 tons of fuel oil, Electrocentrale Galati – 15,500 tons, Electrocentrale Deva – 1,000 tons, and state-run nuclear activities company RAAN – 377,000 tons of coal and 10,429 tons of fuel oil.
Moreover, the three state-run thermal power plants Craiova, Turceni and Rovinari will be provided with 300,000 tons of coal and 4.500 tons of fuel oil, 150,000 tons of coal, and, respectively, 1,000 tons of fuel oil.
The list also includes several thermal power plants countrywide, except for CET Bacau, CET Brasov, Colterm Timisoara, CET Iasi and Electrocentrale Oradea, that will be able to borrow fuel from the state reserve only after they return the previously contracted quantities of fuel.
Coal and fuel oil must be returned until May 31, 2011, according to a government ordinance.
In January, the Government allowed state-run energy companies and thermal power plants to borrow 1.9 billion tons of coal and 172.9 million tons of fuel oil from the state reserve, with reimbursement deadline on October 31, 2010.
