"It was a proposition of the Consultative Council to introduce this element in the tourism law, and the Ministry accepted," Udrea said.

For lodging, the VAT is already at 9%.

Udrea added the tourism law could also include a provision allowing the acknowledgment of a “bed & breakfast” location to require only one approval, from the Ministry.

The Consultative Council for Tourism convened Thursday to discuss the final form of the draft tourism law, a document that will be subject to public debate and presented to Parliament. The meeting was attended by the associations, federations and owners in tourism, as well as Ministry officials.

Udrea said the tourism law should be complete around September 20, when the members of the council send to the Ministry the propositions for the fight against black market economy.

Another proposition, issued by the Ministry and accepted by the council, was for hotel inspection actions to be conducted by mixed teams and under the leadership of the Ministry. “Everyone controls in tourism. There are tens of inspections. Each controls at will," Udrea said.
