The members of the inquiry committee decided Thursday Udrea should attend inquiries on September 1.
Until that date, the members of the committee plan to continue the inquiries with the representatives of the Tourism Ministry, those of the Romanian Bank for Development (BRD), as well as those of Eventures, company owned by Amalia Nastase, directly involved in the advertising campaign “Romania – Land of Choice”.
The members of the inquiry committee decided to invite the representatives of Eurosport and CNN to participate in the inquiries and discuss about the contracts signed with the Tourism Ministry.
The inquiry committee will demand Prime Minister Emil Boc to determine Elena Udrea to attend inquiries in the committee and answer the questions addressed by its members, Ludovic Orban, president of the inquiry committee said Thursday.
Orban said they will inform the prime minister regarding the tourism minister’s refusal to come in front of the members of the committee.
Orban criticized Udrea’s attitude that infringed Romania’s Constitution and dismissed it as lacking any speck of “common sense”. He added that no minister ever disregarded the inquiry committee, pointing at the former sports and youth minister Monica Ridzi and environment minister Nicolae Nemirschi.
Social democrat Dumitru Chirita said that if the prime minister does not determine the tourism minister to participate in the inquiries, the members of the committee must resort to president Traian Basescu to mediate the conflict.
