More than half the companies operate in the construction industry, but companies in spa tourism and plastic mass processing are also laying off employees.

Local employment agency Alina Capraru said the seven companies notified the institution about the layoffs, but required confidentiality.

"We have confidentiality contracts and we can’t say which companies are scrapping jobs. What I can confirm is that more than half are in constructions and the rest are in spa tourism and plastic mass,” Capraru saod.

The number of vacant jobs in the county decreased ten times, from 800 last year to 77 at present.

"The number of vacant jobs is very low. I can’t remember ever going through a time with so little vacancies. We currently have 77 job openings, but last year we even reached 800,” Capraru said.

She added the employment agency will be able to say how many people started the year jobless in February. The most recent statistics indicate the county’s unemployment rate is at 2.8%.
