The Ministry has developed a draft government ordinance, regarding the classification of tourism establishments, which will be debated Wednesday.
Aside from banning artistic programs and playing loud music outdoors, the draft ordinance states owners or administrators of tourism units must ask the Tourism Ministry for classification a minimum of 60 days before the units become operational. If the conditions on which the classification was based have changed, the unit’s operator must request a new classification within 30 days.
Additionally, “for the protection of tourists and to bring them in line with European standards on quality of services”, the owners or administrators of tourism establishments must respect several “ground rules,” which include ensuring a minimum temperature of 18C during the cold season in lodging or eating spaces.
