Romanian Transp Min Accused Of Alleged Shady Deals With Rail Co Land

Romania’s former transport minister, democrat liberal Radu Berceanu, on Tuesday accused acting minister Ludovic Orban of preparing several shady real estate deals using land belonging to the National Rail Company CFR.

Speaking in a press conference, Berceanu said he has “fresh news regarding CFR’s infrastructure.”

He accused Orban of selling CFR land for sums way below the market price, as well as of offering land plots as gifts to his proteges.

Berceanu gave several examples of such deals with CFR lands allegedly made by the minister of transportation, in the cities of Timisoara, Arad, western Romania, as well as the capital Bucharest.

In addition, Orban allegedly eyes several new deals throughout the country.
